About the Edition
Based on the interactive program Interquanta, Quantum Mechanics on the Macintosh, uses extensive 3-D graphics to guide the student through computer experiments in the quantum mechanics of free particle motion, bound states and scattering, tunneling, two-particle interactions, and more. It also includes a section on special functions of mathematical physics. With more than 200 problems, the text and programs provide students with practical experiences in using such hard-to-visualize concepts as complex amplitudes, eigenvalues, and scattering cross sections. The diskette included with the book provides two versions of the programs, one for use in computers with a mathematical coprocessor, the other optimized for machines without a coprocessor. For this new edition the software has been updated and extended.

Quantum Mechanics on the Macintosh® 2nd Edition by Siegmund Brandt (Author), Hans-Dieter Dahmen (Author) out of 5 stars 1 ratingCited by: 2. This extremely successful book/disk package helps students to quickly dispel the mystery behind the complex concepts involved in quantum mechanics.
With more than problems, it provides readers with practical experiences in using such hard-to-visualise concepts as complex amplitudes, eigenvalues, and scattering cross sections.5/5(1). We have called the result INTERQUANTA (the Interactive Program of Quantum Mechanics), which we like to abbreviate further by IQ.
This book is essentially an extensive user's guide for INTERQUANTA. The book also contains a short summary of the different subjects of quantum mechanics treated by IQ as well as a large number of exercises.5/5(1). Based on the interactive program Interquanta, Quantum Mechanics on the Macintosh, uses extensive 3-D graphics to guide the student through computer experiments in the quantum mechanics of free particle motion, bound states and scattering, tunneling, two-particle interactions, and also includes a section on special functions of mathematical physics.
Quantum mechanics challenges ourcommon m mechanics is the theory that describes the behaviorof the universe at the microscopic level; are composed ofatoms and subatomic particles and quantum mechanics explainsthe behavior of these basic units.
From the bestselling author of The Theoretical Minimum, a DIY introduction to the math and science of quantum mechanics. First he taught you classical mechanics.

Griffiths is incredibly easy to work through the text and be able to become proficient and elementary quantum mechanics (or electricity and magnetism or.
The notes start out in Section 1 with a brief review of Classical Mechanics in the Lagrange formulation and build on this to introduce in Section 2 Quantum Mechanics in the closely related path integral formulation. In Section 3 the Schr odinger equation is derived and used as an alternative description of continuous quantum systems.
In quantum mechanics, then, knowledge about the current dynamical state of a system is embodied in a set of quantum amplitudes. In classical physics, by contrast, we can state with certainty which value we will measure, and we characterise the system’s current dynamical state by simply giving this value.

The contributions in the book describe the bizarre aspects of nonlocality -- a phenomenon which cannot be explained in the framework of classical physics. Quantum Mechanics by Thomas DeGrand. The subject of most of this book is the quantum mechanics of systems which have a small number of degrees of freedom.
This book is a mix of descriptions of quantum mechanics itself, the general properties of systems described by quantum mechanics, and general techniques for describing their behavior.
There are many good advanced books on quantum mechanics but there is a distinct lack of books which attempt to give a serious introduction at a level suitable for undergraduates who have a tentative understanding of mathemat-ics, probability and classical physics.
This book introduces the most important aspects of quantum mechanics in. This book will equip students to follow quantum-mechanical arguments in books and scientific papers, and to cope with simple cases. To bring the subject to life, the theory is applied to the all-important field of atomic physics.
No prior knowledge of quantum mechanics. Quantum Mechanics by James Cresser. This lecture note explains the following topics: The Early History of Quantum Mechanics, The Wave Function, The Two Slit Experiment, Wave Mechanics, Particle Spin and the Stern-Gerlach Experiment, Probability Amplitudes, Vector Spaces in Quantum Mechanics, State Spaces of Infinite Dimension, Matrix Representations.
This short book provides a clear, concise, no math presentation of quantum mechanics and explanations of quantum phenomena, such as why we see ourselves in a mirror. Learning the concepts of quantum mechanics is an 5/5(1).

Now, physicist Leonard Susskind has teamed up with data engineer Art Friedman to present the theory and associated mathematics of the strange world of quantum mechanics/5. Quantum Mechanics is the theory of physics that describes nature in the micro-world.
There is much to discuss, too much for just one book. We will start by taking small steps that lead to some great surprises/5(4). Here Roland Omnès offers a clear, up-to-date guide to the conceptual framework of quantum mechanics.
In an area that has provoked much philosophical debate, Omnès has achieved high recognition for his Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics (Princeton ), a book for specialists. Now the author has transformed his own theory into a short and readable text that enables.
Most of us are unaware of how much we depend on quantum mechanics on a day-to-day basis. Using illustrations and examples from science fiction pulp magazines and comic books, The Amazing Story of Quantum Mechanics explains the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics that underlie the worl 3/5(2).
The Quantum World: Quantum Physics for Everyone combines mathematics and analogies to bring the theories of quantum physics to every mind. The book is direct and easy to read for those who are beginning to explore quantum physics.
The book provides the history of the men who discovered and explored the mechanics of quantum physics. In the following we show you which quantum mechanics books we love. We also tell you for whom we think the respective books will be the best fit. After all, different books are suitable for an amateur scientist and a physics students.
For more information about the details of the books, check our page with quantum physics book reviews. Quantum Mechanics is one of those fields that has tons of books written on it.
So choosing the best of those books requires a knowledge of the level of the course for which the book is intended.
For a very basic understanding of QM, I would prefer “Introduction to Quantum Mechanics ”. A baker's dozen popular-audience books on quantum physics that I think do a good job presenting the key ideas of the theory and experiments. Great Books For Non-Physicists Who Want To.
Quantum mechanics has played an important role in photonics, quantum electronics, and micro-electronics. But many more emerging technologies require the understanding of quantum mechanics; and hence, it is important that scientists and engineers understand quantum mechanics better.
One area is nano-technologies due to the recent advent of nano-File Size: 2MB.Quantum Mechanics deals with various aspects of quantum mechanics and covers topics ranging from the uncertainty principle and the principle of superposition to conservation laws, Schrödinger's equation, and perturbation theory.
Spin, radiation, and the identity of particles are also discussed, along with the atom, the diatomic molecule, elastic and inelastic collisions, and .This is a list of notable textbooks on classical mechanics and quantum mechanics arranged according to level and surnames of the authors in alphabetical order.
